Abstract

This study examines the participation of honeybee farmers in sustainable forest management within the Lakitan Bukit Cogong Forest Management Unit (KPH), Musi Rawas Regency, South Sumatra. The aims of this research are to measure the level of participation of honeybee farmers in forest management, identify the benefits of honeybee farming for sustainable forest management, and evaluate the performance of honeybee farming efforts in supporting forest conservation. The research method used is descriptive quantitative with data collection techniques including interviews, documentation, and observation. A Likert scale was used to measure farmers' participation in various aspects of forest management. The results show that the overall participation level of farmers in sustainable forest management is categorized as "adequate" with an average score of 2.98. The highest participation was recorded in the aspect of involvement in obtaining economic benefits with a score of 3.49, while participation in forest management activities was the lowest (score 2.20). Economic benefits of honeybee farming significantly contribute to farmers' income (score 3.58), while socio-cultural (score 3.25) and ecological benefits (score 2.5) need improvement. The evaluation using BWM and VIKOR methods indicates that optimizing forest resource utilization and forest resource maintenance are the main priorities in supporting sustainable forest management. The evaluation shows a good level of validity with a consistency ratio of 0.096. This study suggests the need for empowerment of farmers through training and greater support.
