Abstract

One of the main challenges in well operations is the occurrence of casing leaks commonly referred to as near wellbore water channeling, as found in well PNN-A, requiring effective remedial cementing techniques to address this issue. Well "PNN-A" in Field "X" is one of the development wells with suspended condition due to identified near wellbore water channeling. Therefore, squeeze cementing operations will be conducted due to declining production and to perform shut off. Based on mathematical calculations, the research results show that well PNN-A with perforation zone at interval 2358 – 2361 meters requires approximately 27 sacks of cement. Additionally, the addition of additives such as dispersant (2.16 gal), fluid loss additive (40.50 gal), bonding agent (40.50 gal), foam preventer (0.81), and retarder (1.76 gal) can improve slurry distribution efficiency. The planning data results for Well PNN-A indicate that the thickening time parameter of the cement slurry has reached a value of 100 Bc within a duration of 5 hours 28 minutes, a condition that does not comply with the American Petroleum Institute (API) standard specifications which establish optimal parameters at 70 Bc within a maximum duration of 3 hours. Further investigation identified the causal factor as excessive retarder concentration of 0.065 gps in the slurry formulation.
