Abstract

ABSTRACT Eel is a fishery commodity with high economic value that is experiencing excessive exploitation pressure due to high international market demand, especially in Southeast Asian countries. This study aims to analyze the role of SEAFDEC Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center in sustainable eel fisheries management in Southeast Asia. This study uses the theory of International Organization by whom, using qualitative research methods. primary data through interviews and secondary data through data published in the form of journals, books and reports. The results of the study indicate that SEAFDEC has succeeded in facilitating the exchange of information between countries, strengthening national policies through science-based recommendations, and encouraging the adoption of environmentally friendly cultivation and fishing practices. However, the success of comprehensive eel management still depends on political commitment, policy synergy between countries, and increased monitoring of resources at the local level.
