Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas representasi maskulinitas perempuan dalam film Kill Boksoon (2023) dengan menggunakan pendekatan semiotika Roland Barthes. Film ini menampilkan sosok perempuan yang menampilkan sifat-sifat maskulin seperti keberanian, kekuatan, dan kepemimpinan, yang bertentangan dengan stereotip tradisional perempuan yang lemah lembut dan keibuan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana semua karakter wanita, Boksoon, sebagai seorang ibu tunggal dan pembunuh bayaran, merepresentasikan maskulinitas perempuan dalam konteks budaya patriarki Korea Selatan. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah semiotika Roland Barthes dengan tiga tahap pemaknaan: denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa film ini menghadirkan representasi perempuan yang kuat dan independen, serta mampu melakukan peran yang umumnya diasosiasikan dengan laki-laki. Representasi ini diharapkan dapat mengubah persepsi masyarakat terhadap gender dan mendorong kesetaraan gender melalui media populer.
