Abstract
Carbon stocks estimating on oil palm plantation was extremely required to review carbon absortion capacity by oil palm crops and to presume how much carbon stocks contained on oil plant crops. Generally, Carbon stocks estimating of oil palm had been to do. Most of the estimating was conductes on oil palm crops which showed in peat-land. Nevertheless, it's still little estimating of oil palm which planted in tidal swamp land. Carbon Stocks Estimating was conducted by using allometric equation that had been developed by Ketterings et al. (2001) by using diameter approachment, that is Y . The aim of this research was to estimate how much total carbon absortion that capable by oil palm crops which be planted in tidal swamp land at 3, 7 and 8 years. The research was conducted at oil palm plantations owned national-private company which located at Sungai Dua Village, Rambutan, Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra. 104o 54’02.91”. E and 3o 02’27.13”. S. Oil palm crops were tempted on alluvial with land type of tidal swamp land. The research was conducted on October until November 2015. That Carbon stocks estimation was using non-destructive method conducted by measuring diameter inside without midrib which measured on height of diameter’s bearst high 25 cm. Within one of crop was taken as much as 21 samples according to observation and carbon-stocks-estimating guide issued by World Agroforestry Centre (2010). The result of the observation and calculation using allometric equation were available the diameter average of oil palm crops aged 3 years was 18 cm with biomassa average of 36.94 crop-1, carbon average of 18.67 kg C crop-1, with total carbon of 2.42 ton C ha-1. The diameter average of oil palm crops aged 7 years was 74 cm with biomass average of 606.94 kg crop-1, carbon average of 303.47 kg C crop-1, with total carbon 39.45 ton C ha- 1, the diameter average of oil palm crops aged 8 years was 77 cm with biomass average of 656.63 kg crop-1, carbon average of 328.31 kg C crop-1, with total carbon of 42.68 to C ha-1. According to such research, it's concluded that there are correlation among the age, crops diameter size and crops carbon stock contained. The bigger the diameter of oil palm crop the more number of biomass contained and carbon stocks on such crops.
