Abstract
Pangasius catfish and lettuce culture with aquaponic system can use swamp water as culture medium. Nutrional needs in aquaponic system can be fulfilled through the application of liquid organic fertilizer. The potential material for liquid organic fertilizer is kumpai grass. This study aimed to determine the best dose of kumpai grass liquid organic fertilizer on the culture of pangasius catfish and lettuce plants using floating raft aquaponic system. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications. The treatments consist of without liquid organic fertilizer (P0), kumpai grass liquid organic fertilizer 3 μL L-1 day-1 (P1), 5 μL L-1 day-1 (P2) and 7 μL L-1 day-1 (P3). Pangasius catfish with an initial length 5±0.5 cm and stocking density of 100 fish m-3 was cultured for 42 days. The parameters observed including water quality (total dissolved solid, ammonia, nitrate, phosporus, potassium, dissolved oxygen, pH and temperature), absolute growth in length and weight of fish, survival rate of fish and total weight of lettuce plants harvest. The results showed that application of kumpai grass liquid organic fertilizer 5 μL L-1 day-1 (P2) was the best treatment with water quality at day 42 culture obtained consist of total dissolved solid 130.00±5.00 mg L-1, ammonia 0.057±0.002 mg L-1, nitrate 28.445 mg L-1, phosporus 0.897 mg L-1, potassium 2.83±0.05 mg L-1, dissolved oxygen 5.60±0.10 mg L-1, pH 8.48±0.01 and temperature 26.65±0.10℃, absolute growth of weight 14.84±0.15 g, absolute growth of length 8.53±0.35 cm, survival rate 100.00±0.00%, feed efficiency of pangasius catfish 101.08±1.62% and total weight of lettuce plants harvest 416.5±36.5 g.
