Abstract
This study aims to analyze the relationship pattern between technological literacy, digital mindset, and morality variables with the responsibility of using artificial intelligence (AI) by Sriwijaya University students. The main focus of this study is to prove whether the relationship between morality as an antecedent variable is greater in shaping the responsibility of using AI than it is as an intervening variable. This study uses the Theory of Planned Behavior (Ajzen, 1991). The research method uses a quantitative method, with respondents taken by probability sampling method. Data were collected through a questionnaire in the form of Google Forms, which was distributed online to all Unsri students. The number of respondents was 395 students from 10 faculties. Data analysis by analyzing the relationship between variables using SmartPLS 4. The test results show that the pattern of relationship between morality with technological literacy and digital mindset with the responsibility of using AI is greater when morality is an antecedent variable, namely with a specific indirect effects value, Original Sample (O) of 0.268, compared to when morality is an intervening variable which only produces a value of 0.130. These findings support the views of Kant (2004) and Haffey (1991) that morality is the initial foundation (antecedent) in developing responsible attitudes, in contrast to the view of Bian & Wang (2024) who position morality as an intervening factor. Thus, this study confirms that early moral development is a crucial foundation in higher education. Sriwijaya University has a responsibility to instill moral education from the time students enter college to foster responsible attitudes in the use of AI. Keywords: Technological Literacy; Digital Mindset; Morality; Responsibility; Artificial Intelligence.
