Abstract
Stunted is a state of malnutrition in toddlers due to an imbalance between nutritional needs and nutrient intake. Stunted in toddlers can cause developmental disorders of the oral cavity structures, leading to a decrease in pH, Salivary Flow Rate (SFR), and buffer capacity. Efforts that can be made to prevent the decrease in pH and SFR by providing a remineralization agent, Phosphopeptide-Amorphous Calcium Phosphate (CPP-ACP). CPP-ACP is a bioactive material derived from casein protein in milk that inhibits demineralization and enhances the resistance of teeth to acid, by forming mineral deposits, Ca2+, and PO43-. Objective: To determine the changes in pH and LAS after the application of CPP-ACP for 7 and 14 days in stunted toddlers. Methods: The type of research used is quasi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, with subjects of 30 people. All subjects were given the same treatment, which was the application of CPP-ACP twice a day for 14 days. The research subjects will have their pH and SFR measured three times; before the treatment, 7 days after the treatment, and 14 days after the treatment. The research data were obtained through the Shapiro Wilk normality test. The data distribution of the group is normal, the testing will use a parametric test (Paired sample t-test). Results: The results of the Paired sample t-test analysis showed significant change on the saliva pH and SFR of stunted toddlers after application CPP-ACP for 14 days. Conclusion: The use of CPPACP with topical application twice a day for 14 days can increase the pH and salivary flow rate.
