Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji representasi generasi sandwich dalam film Home Sweet Loan (2024) karya Almira Bastari melalui pendekatan semiotika Roland Barthes. Generasi sandwich merujuk pada individu yang menanggung beban ganda, yakni merawat orang tua yang menua sekaligus memenuhi kebutuhan keluarga inti. Hal ini menimbulkan tekanan ekonomi, emosional, dan sosial yang kompleks. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis tanda visual dan verbal dalam film dengan konsep denotasi, konotasi, serta mitos dari Barthes untuk mengungkap makna-makna di balik representasi tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa film Home Sweet Loan menampilkan generasi sandwich sebagai sosok yang terjebak dalam dilema pengorbanan diri, yang ditunjukkan dengan cara Kaluna berjuang membagi waktu antara pekerjaan, orang tua, dan saudaranya. Konotasi dari tanda ini menggambarkan beban moral dan ekspektasi sosial yang mengikat generasi sandwich. Film ini menampilkan mitos pengorbanan sebagai sesuatu yang mulia dan wajar, sehingga memperlihatkan bagaimana mitos tersebut sudah mengakar dalam realitas sosial yang dihadapi generasi sandwich. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa representasi dalam film turut membentuk pemaknaan sosial atas posisi generasi sandwich di masyarakat.
