Abstract

This study aims to develop Augmented Reality (AR) learning media that is valid, practical, and effective to improve critical thinking skills and concept mastery on Earth Structure material in class VIII junior high school. The method used is research and development with the ADDIE model. The research instruments include validation sheets, questionnaires, and pretest and posttest questions which are analyzed using the Rasch model. The validity test was conducted on 60 students and showed that all items were valid and reliable. The media validation results showed very valid criteria, while the practicality test in small and large classes showed that the media was very practical. The effectiveness of the media is shown by the N-Gain value of critical thinking skills of 0.84 and concept mastery of 0.77, both of which are in the high and very effective categories. It can be concluded that AR media is able to stimulate students' critical thinking skills and concept mastery optimally. This research is expected to be useful for researchers to develop science learning media, especially physics. As a recommendation, similar research is conducted using AR media on other science materials with different levels.
