Abstract
Crude Palm Oil (CPO) is one of the strategic commodities for the economies of Indonesia and Malaysia as the world's two largest producers. The dynamics of CPO prices and trade in the two countries show a close relationship, reflecting the potential for regional market integration. This study aims to analyze the level of CPO market integration between Indonesia and Malaysia and identify the main factors influencing Indonesia's CPO export volume. The selection of the two countries was carried out deliberately on the basis that both countries are the main producers of CPO in the world. Variables as factors affecting export volume in this study consist of Exchange Rate, International CPO Prices, Malaysian CPO Prices, World Soybean Prices, Domestic CPO Production and Indonesian Export Volume Lag. Data was obtained from the Commodity Futures Trading Supervisory Agency (Bappebti), the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB), the Directorate General of Plantations of the Republic of Indonesia, Bank Indonesia and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Price data in the market integration research objective uses monthly data from January 2018 to December 2023, research data on factors affecting Indonesia's CPO export volume using annual data from 1994 to 2023. The first objective research method used the Vector Autoregressive (VAR) and Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) analysis methods and the second objective used simple linear regression analysis. Using the Eviews and SPSS analysis tools. The results of this study show that there is a significant long-term relationship between Indonesian and Malaysian CPO prices, which is reflected in the significance of the Error Correction Term (ECT) coefficient but in the short term only occurs in a few variables. It was also explained about the granger power relationship between countries, IRF, FEVD which shows that Indonesian and Malaysian CPO prices affect price movements in both countries, where Indonesian CPO prices show a greater response and last longer to changes, while Malaysian CPO prices respond more weakly to shocks from the Indonesian market.
