Abstract
Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an infectious disease caused by the Dengue virus, which is transmitted through the bite of Aedes aegypti L. mosquitoes. Environmentally friendly vector control can be achieved using natural substances as attractants to lure mosquitoes into traps. This study aimed to determine the number of Aedes aegypti L. mosquitoes trapped, the most effective attractant concentration, and the influence of environmental conditions on mosquito capture. This research was conducted from January to March 2024 in Pahlawan Subdistrict, Kemuning District, Palembang City, and in the Biosystematics Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Sriwijaya. The experiment employed a non-factorial randomized block design with six treatments of young coconut water fermentation concentrations (0.025%, 0.05%, 0.075%, 0.1%, 0.125%, and a 20% lactic acid control) and four replications, totaling 48 mosquito traps. Observations were carried out at two stations (RT 21 RW 01 and RT 08 RW 03). Observed parameters included the number of Aedes aegypti L. mosquitoes trapped over seven days, the most effective attractant concentration, attractant characteristics (pH, color, odor), and environmental parameters (temperature and humidity). Data were analyzed using ANOVA and followed by Duncan's multiple range test. The results showed that the highest number of mosquitoes was trapped at Station 1, totaling 54 Aedes aegypti L. individuals. The 0.075% concentration of fermented young coconut water was the most effective in attracting mosquitoes. Keywords: Aedes aegypti L., Attractant, Fermentation of Young Coconut water,Trap.
