Abstract

This study aims to design and develop an educational video as a medium for introducing reading and writing literacy, using the theme of local educational tourism adapted to the learning characteristics of early childhood. The subjects of this study involved 30 children from PAUD KB Ceria. The development process followed the ADDIE model stages, starting from needs analysis, story-based design, media production using CapCut Pro application, to formative and summative evaluation. Observational results revealed that children faced challenges in recognizing letters and often lost concentration; however, they showed high enthusiasm when learning was conducted using visual and interactive media. Validation by content experts, media experts, and early childhood practitioners showed a very high validity level with an average score of 95.8%. Limited trials, both individual and small group, indicated positive responses and an increased interest in literacy activities. Practicality assessments from teachers yielded an average score of 93.98%, while pretest and posttest results demonstrated an improvement in literacy skills with an N-Gain score of 0.97 (categorized as high). This media was considered effective, enjoyable, and easy to implement in early childhood learning. The findings suggest that local contextbased learning approaches can serve as innovative alternatives for early literacy education. The researcher recommends that educators make broader use of this media and consider it as a reference for future educational media development.
