Abstract
Deaf Students have hearing impairments, which create abstacles in interaction and communication during the teaching and learning process. Therefore, teachers must understand the communication patterns needed by deef students in order for them to effectively comprehend the material being delivered. The purpose of this study is to identify the communication patterns that occur between teachers and deaf students during the teaching and learning process at SLB Negeri PALI. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method, with data collection techniques including observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The theory used in this research is the Symbolic Interactionism Theory by George Herbert Mead. The results of the study indicate that communication between teachers and deaf students during the learning process occurs in three stages: opening the class, delivering the material, and closing the class. The communication used is nonverbal, primarily through sign language, specifically BISINDO and SIBI. Shared meanings of symbols in sign language are essential to avoid communication barries. Therefore, both teachers and deaf students predominantly use BISINDO in their communication, as they are more proficient in it. The communication pattern formed in this learning process is the Interactional communication Pattern. Keywords: Communication Pattern, Learning Process, Teacher, Deaf Students.
