Abstract

The Tourism Communication Strategy is a step taken by the Dinas Pariwisata Pemuda dan Olahraga of Kabupaten Tanah Datar to increase tourism, one of the program is Satu Nagari Satu Event. The target audience of this activity is not only the local and national community but also international tourists, with the aim of preserving culture, supporting community businesses and boosting the local economy. The method used in this research is through a qualitative approach swith data collection techniques such as in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation study. The data found includes primary data from in-depth interviews and observations, as well as secondary data from documentation study. This research uses competitive strategy theory, which is divided into three dimensions: differentiation strategy, focus strategy, and horizontal marketing. In the differentiation strategy, the government identifies the unique features of the nagari that have the potential to become tourist destinations, focusing on maximizing infrastructure and access to the location, utilizing direct word-of-mouth promotion methods and social media as promotional tools with a wide reach in disseminating information. The communication strategy implemented by the Dinas Pariwisata Pemuda dan Olahraga of Kabupaten Tanah Datar is effective in enhancing the tourist appeal of Tanah Datar through the Satu Nagari Satu Event initiative. All elements, including the government, the community, and local leaders, are involved in the success of this activity.
