Abstract

Introduction: According to the World Health Organization (2019), the prevalence of anemia among 14–49-year-olds is 29.9%. The results of the Indonesian Health Survey (2023) show that more than 16.2% of adolescents in Indonesia suffer from anemia. The most significant impact of anemia on adolescents is a decrease in cognitive and academic performance (WHO, 2020). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of health education using virtual reality-based video media on the knowledge level of adolescent girls about anemia. Methods: This study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The population consisted of all grade X students at State Senior High School 01 Tanjung Raya, Mesuji District, totaling 131 students. The sample comprised 98 students, selected using stratified random sampling. Data was analyzed using the Marginal Homogeneity Test. Results: There is an effect of health education using virtual reality-based video media on the knowledge level of adolescent girls about anemia, with a P-value of 0.000. Discussion: Providing health education with virtual reality-based video media is effective in increasing female students' knowledge about anemia. Keywords: Anemia, adolescent girls’ knowledge, health education, media video, virtual reality Bibliography: 57 (2012-2024)
