Abstract

Pond maintenance activities in the settling pond in the PT Kaltim Prima Coal open pit area are an important part of the mine water management system to prevent excessive sedimentation and disruption of mine operations. This study aims to analyze the productivity of heavy equipment used in the work, namely CAT 320 GC long arm backhoe excavator and HINO FM 260 JD dump truck, in Murung and Selanting ponds. The method used is direct observation in the field to obtain primary data such as cycle time, load volume, and effective working time. Secondary data was obtained from company documents. The results of the analysis show that in the Murung Pond, the actual productivity of the tool does not reach the production target, which is only 23,141.46 BCM slurry from the target of 25,228.55 BCM in 108 days. Similarly, in the Selanting Pond, only 22,162.91 BCM of the 40,000 BCM target was achieved in 141 days. Factors affecting low productivity include work efficiency, bucket fill factor, working time constraints, and terrain and weather conditions. After evaluating and improving these factors, production achievement increased. This research provides technical recommendations for improving the work effectiveness of heavy equipment in settling pond maintenance activities in the mine area
