Abstract

Rice seed farming plays an important role in ensuring the availability of superior seeds that support increased productivity and national food security. This study aims to analyze the efficiency of rice seed farming in Bumi Agung Village, Lempuing District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. The method used was a survey with a sample of 60 seed farmers affiliated with CV Berkah Tani. Efficiency was analyzed using the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method to measure technical, allocative, and economic efficiency. Additionally, multiple linear regression analysis with a Cobb-Douglas model was conducted to identify factors significantly influencing the efficiency of rice seed farming enterprises. The results show that the technical efficiency level of rice seed farming in Bumi Agung Village is very good with a score of 90%, but allocative and economic efficiencies have not yet reached optimal levels, with scores of 55% and 49% respectively. The production factor that significantly affects the efficiency rice seed farming are pesticide, fertilizer and labor while other variables do not have a significant effect. This study recommends improving input management according to the DEA analysis results to enhance the efficiency of quality rice seed production. The findings can serve as a basis for relevant parties to formulate policies that support the sustainable development of rice seed farming.
