Abstract
Limestone is one of the mined materials commonly used in the cement industry. The mining method employed for this material is one of the open-pit mining methods. Open-pit mining activities will create slope dimensions, and the gentle slope dimensions lead to suboptimal mining. PT. Semen Baturaja Tbk. has slope geometry in the low wall area that is gentle, resulting in a high safety factor in that area. This study aims to analyze the stability of slopes in the limestone mining area and to obtain recommendations for safe and optimal slope geometry. This research was conducted using a quantitative approach with the Rock Mass Rating (RMR) method and the Generalized Hoek-Brown failure criterion. The Rock Mass Rating value is obtained from the weighting of the data on the discontinuity field of the mechanical properties of the rock in the surface miner and blasting excavation areas. An analysis and evaluation of slope stability is then conducted using the Generalized Hoek-Brown failure parameters through Rocscience Slide 6.0 software. The results of this study indicate that the research area has a high existing slope safety factor, which is 3.560 in the surface miner area and 1.825 in the blasting area. Evaluation was performed by changing the slope geometry of the surface miner area to have a width of 2.5 m, a length of 5 m, and an angle of 85º, while the evaluation in the blasting area was modified to have a width of 2 m, a length of 6 m, and an angle of 85º. From the evaluation, a safety factor value of 3.065 was obtained for the surface miner area and 1.380 for the blasting area. The increase in material that can be obtained from the evaluation results is 87.561,18 m^3 for the surface miner area and 89.119,14 m^3 for the blasting area.
