Abstract

Quality Assurance is one of the terms in industrial sector which has important task that is to monitor all the process of production involved in producing a product. In the development, Quality Assurance is not only use in the industrial sector but already growth and spread to the education sector with various methods, one of them is the making of website as a medium of information in the effort to improve Quality Assurance. This study will develop Web-Based Academic Quality Assurance in the Mechanical Engineering Department, Sriwijaya University Case Study: The Academic Activity of the Students in Indralaya Campus. WAQA programming process using Content Management System (CMS) Joomla added with Fabrik Extension. Data that is needed in the design of the Web-Based Academic Quality Assurance (WAQA) obtained from the Mechanical Engineering Department. Dean of Engineering Faculty and the teaching of the data Engineering Faculty is firstly processed using Microsoft Excel and developed in the form of Database System, data that have been validated then processed to convert data from Excel to SQL and continued to WAQA programming. This WAQA programming conducted using Content Management System (CMS) Joomla by using some addition of Extension for data management. Extension used in the Database Management is Fabrik, whereas in the management of home display using RSPageBuilder!. The WAQA programming display database and infromation in the form of articles related to the Mechanical Engineering Department, Sriwijaya University. Database displayed to the public are only general data whereas privacy data can only be accessed by users who are given the access rights. There are some levels of access rights that has been made among others are: super user, web administrator, lecturer, and public. The access rights given to the public only can look at the published data but unable to edit, delete, or add data. The access rights xvii given to the lecturer i.e,. author, editor, and publisher. Whereas the access rights of super user and administrator are the highest access rights i.e,. can login back end and front end WAQA. In the back end login, super user can edit, delete, add, publish and convert data to CSV. From the result of database design and website programming that has been done resulting in all student academic activities for WAQA that functions well as a medium of information, management data of Quality Assurance at the Mechanical Engineering Department, Sriwijaya University, that is needed according to the BAN-PT data requirements, help the institutions in a short time decision making process and accurate data, can provide accurate information. Data issued from this system could be in the form of soft file with CSV format so it can simplify the data management.
