Abstract
The quality of production goods usually considered good if it has a good surface roughness component quality. Some various factors that cause surface roughness are culting speed, cut of depth, and feeding movement. In this study will analyze the surface roughness in the process of down milling A106 Steel thin wali using cutting fluid. To analyze surface roughness in this test, 12 tests were carried out with machining conditions based on the Design Expert design with three cutting parameters, namely cutting rate, feed motion, and depth of cut. The workpiece used is low carbon Steel with dimensions of 100 mm x 50 mm x 3 mm and the machining process is down-milled on the side of the workpiece. Down milling is cutting where the tool rotation is in the direction of the workpiece's direction. Processing is done with 12 times with different parameters according to table 3.3 test parameters with a constant radial depth of 0.4 mm. The cutting fluid machining process used is coconut oil with the method of use disbursed in the active cutting field. Based on the data analysis obtained from the testing process, it is known that the relationship of cutting rate to surface roughness value is the optimum cutting condition occurs at Vc conditions of 102.5 m / min while the relationship of feeding motion and cutting depth to the surface roughness value is the smaller the motion value and depth of cut hence the optimum value of surface roughness. In this case the cutting fluid also affects the value of surface roughness where the use of xvii I cutting fluid makes the workpiece surface more smooth and as cxpected. The highest value of surface roughness in this study is found in the test variable with Vc = 80 m / min, Fz = 0.1 mm / flute, and aaxial = 10 mm at 0.871 pm. While the lovvest surface roughness value in this study is found in the test variable with Vc = 125 m / min, Fz = 0.04 mm / flute, and aaxial = 5 mm at 0.336 p m Keywords: Surface roughness, Cutting speed, Feeding movement, Cut of depth, Central Composite Design.
