Abstract

ln this research, analysis the ammonia mass flow rute on the effectiveness of condenscr. Condenscr on research is a shell and tube condenser that exist in PT. Pupuk Sriwidjaja Palembang. This type of condenser is used to cool the ammonia fluid with its cold waterfluid. The ammonia mass flow rate obtained during on the research be varied, the smallest being m h = 5.45 kg/s and the largest /h/, = 5.928 kg/s. From m h = 5,45 kg/s, condenser effectiveness is obtained by 61,53% and from m h — 5,928 kg/s condensor effectiveness is 63,71% while the design effectivity value is 68,22%. The greatest effectiveness value obtained during the reseacrh smaller 6.61% from the effectiveness of condenser design. Keyword : condenser, shell and tube condenser, effectiveness, heat exchanger
