Abstract

in the middle of globalization era is strong, The need for steam energy will increase. In addition, crisis of energy that happenin the world caused a substantial increase in the price of gas thereby increasing the burden of fertilizer factories using gas as an additional fuel. Seeing that condition, energy conservation is essential to reduce energy wastage, energy conservation which is the efficient and rational use of energy without reducing the energy use that is really needed one way by using boiler. The boiler is a closed vessel in which the water heated by the heat resulting from the combustion will turn into steam, the water that turns into the vapor volume will increase approximately 1600 times, so that at a certain pressure steam can be used to proceed to a process. This study aims to analyze and understand the amount of energy used by fuels on boilers and steam-generated energy and to analyze boiler efficiency for 1 year (2016-2017). From this research, the average energy produced by steam in 2016 is 32608,08402 kJ / s, As for the year 2017, the average steam energy is 31819.67233 kJ / s, as for the energy contained fuel is amounted to 40217.64 kJ / s, so that boiler efficiency is obtained with an average of 81.081% in 2016 while boiler efficiency in 2017 is 78.854% average. in 1 year (2016-2017) boiler efficiency decreased by 2.227%. The use of fuel energy is very influential to the decrease of boiler efficiency, it can be caused by the amount ofheat loses that occur in the boiler. Keywords: Boiler, efficiency, heat loses.
