Abstract
PT. PLN Keramasan has a lube oil cooler that serves to lubricate steam turbine support equipment such as shafts and gear. However, the current cooler performance does not work according to the design conditions due to the increasing steam turbine load whi.ch causing operating temperature increase and need to be cooled by the lube oil. Designing cooler is very effective than buying a ready-made cooler. The design is done by LMTD method also called log mean temperature difference based on TEMA design Standard (Tubular Exchanger Manufacturers Association). The design result is the dimension of cooler, the outer tube diameter is 0.052 ft, inner tube diameter is 0.043 ft, 14.76 ft tube length and the amount of tube is 501, inner shell diameter is 1.85 ft and cooler type is flxed tubesheet cooler. The temperature results obtained from the design of cooler is 113°F. Pressure drop in the shell side is 3.65 Psi and tube side is 2.05 Psi. The value of the dirt factor is 0.0035.
