Abstract

The elevation of global oil price, makes govemment create policy to give subvention or raising oil price adjust to global oil price. Beside energy source problem and subvention, and also appear environmental pollution problem from the results of Oil Combustion Emission on vehicle, such as CO, HC, and NO* gas. Therefore, requires alternative energy source. Using altemative fuel needs appropriateness study, that emission and fuel comsumption. Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) used as altemative fuel because its easy to get and have lower price. CNG is made by doing methane compression extracted from natural gas, and developed for use in vehicles because it has many advantages, such as energy content, octane numbers, selftemperature, flame speed, and flash points. CNG has a cheaper price than fuel oil, higher octane level, exhaust emissions that are cleaner and environmentally friendly when compared to fuel oil. Pertalite is a new type of fuel produced by Pertamina, when compared to premium, pertalite has better fuel quality because it has a level of Research Octane Number (RON) 90, above Premium that is only RON 88. Based on the test results between pertalite and premium, it can be said that the use of pertalite fuel will make the vehicle using fuel more efficient. Converter kit used to converting CNG fuel in vehicle. The converter kit is all equipment used for the CNG usage system on motorized vehicles, this equipment consists of tanks and binders, distribution pipes, regulators, mixers and other equipment. Converter kit generally have a working principle by channeling BBG into the engine. Research purposes is to get comparison data, such as consumption and exhaust gas emission rate oil fueled vehicle especially Pertalite and CNG fueled. Type of the research is experimental research. Vehicle that already installed with converter kit then carried out measurement to knowing the fuel comsumption and exhaust gas emission. Method of collecting data is observation method. Experiment testing using pertalite and CNG fuel in APV 1500 cc Car. Based on research can be concluded that using CNG fuel for fuel comsumption have reduction. Based on the results of the calculation of stoichiometric combustion, it can be seen that in the air and fuel ratio 15.1: 1 that is the ratio of air to fuel where the air volume is 15.1 parts and the fuel is 1 part pertalite, while based on the calculation of combustion stochiometrics shows that in the ratio of air and fuel CNG 17.2: 1, that is the ratio of air to fuel where the volume of air is 17.2 parts and CNG fuel 1 part, the value of A / F has an effect on exhaust emissions, under conditions this is the maximum CO exhaust gas that is 5000 ppm and exhaust gas emissions NO 133 ppm on pertalite fuel while in CNG fuel CO emissions are 4500 ppm and exhaust gas emissions NO 66 66 ppm, that is because at A / F 15,1:1 the air entering the combustion chamber is still small so it does not bum completely, on CNG fuels it has an A / F value of 17.2: 1 the air enterfng the combustion chamber is more anything than pertalite so that CNG exhaust emissions are smaller than pertalite which has been proven from the test results. The average of exhaust CO gas emission reduction reaching 10,42% at 1000 rpm (idle), 1500 rpm, 2000 rpm rotations, the average of exhaust NOx gas emission reduction reaching 50,3%, and the average of fuel consumption reduction reaching 62,73% at 5 km testing distance and on the same road. The use of CNG in general can have an impact on reducing the content of exhaust gas emissions, due to the low carbon content of CNG compared to pertalite, and the results of emissions that do not exceed the maximum standards of emission thresholds based on Permitted No. 5 of 2006 are allowed. for vehicles above 2007, which are 1.5% for CO or 15000 ppm, and the results of testing using CNG, the maximum CO emission results are 4500 ppm, so the use of CNG has entered the existing threshold requirements.
