Abstract

Evaporative cooling process is very friendly to the environment because it does nol use ingredients that damage the ozone layer or cause global warming effects. The main part of the equipment other than evaporative cooler fan are tubes. Tests conducted to determine the decrease in air dry bulb temperature, the wet-bulb temperature, a decrease in air moisture content and the magnitude of the heat transfer rate. Variables measured during the tesi are the wet-bulb air temperature and air dry bulb temperature at the input and output, pipe temperature, and air velocity. Testing is done with a given air speed variation as well as the addition of fins on the tubes. In this case the air speed for low speed and high speed, as well as the tubes without fin and tubes with fins. The results of this study show that the greatest amount of heat transfer occurs at high speed without fins is about 0.1645 kJ/s for about 8 minutes. The decrease in moisture content occurred at high speed testing without fins is about 15.7303 %. The decrease in temperature of 2 °C for about 10 minutes to use a fin tube for both low speed and high speed. Keywords : cooling, tubes, fins, heat transfer rate
