Abstract

The income and expenditure of rice farmers' households, as well as the availability of food in their households, can be influenced by various factors such as the number of family dependents, the number of school children, the age of the head of the family, land area, and crop yields. The objectives of this study are (1) Calculating the total household income of rice farmers in Musi Rawas Regency, (2) Calculating the total household expenditure of rice farmers in Musi Rawas Regency, (3) Calculating the food availability of rice farmer households in the form of rice in Musi Rawas Regency, (4) Analyzing the factors that influence food availability other than income and expenditure on food availability in rice farmer households in Musi Rawas Regency, (5) Analyzing what strategies are needed to ensure food availability for rice farmer households in Musi Rawas Regency. This research was conducted in Musi Rawas Regency, Tugumulyo District, in Kali Bening Village and Trikoyo Village in July - December 2024. The research method used was a survey method with a simple random sampling method with a total of 80 farmers respondents. The data used are primary and secondary data. The results of this study are (1) the average household income of rice farmers in Musi Rawas Regency is Rp63.655.337/year. (2) the average household expenditure of rice farmers in Musi Rawas Regency is Rp2,105,602.24/month (3) the availability of staple food (rice) for rice farmers in Musi Rawas Regency is 427,73 kg/rice/year. (4) factors that significantly affect the availability of staple foods (rice) in Musi Rawas Regency are income, land area, and expenditure (5) the development strategy of rice farming in Musi Rawas Regency is in quadrant I which has a position of opportunities and strengths that can be used simultaneously to support aggressive growth policies (growth oriented strategy).The income and expenditure of rice farmers' households, as well as the availability of food in their households, can be influenced by various factors such as the number of family dependents, the number of school children, the age of the head of the family, land area, and crop yields.
