Abstract

Hydrocarbons as refrigerants in refrigeration systems has been known since the 1920's, before the synthetic refrigerants known. Scientists that listed as promoter of hydrocarbons as refrigerants, are Linde (1916) and World Scientist Albert Einstein (1920). Hydrocarbons accounted again as an altemative to altemate CFC, after the environmental aspects fore, and the emergence of problems in the transition from CFCs to HFCs, because of the needed of hardware adjustments, lubricants, as well as special treatment in the operational use of HFCs. Accordingly, this study will examine and seek a method of how to increase the efficiency (COP) with a decrease in temperature at the evaporator in the Air Conditioning system by using Musicool-22 substitutes Freon 22. The objective of this study is to assess the effect of the use of refrigerant to the evaporator temperature to obtain an optimal load compressor. The results of this study are: the minimum room temperature of about 20 ° C can be achieved by using refrigan MC-22, where the temperature at the evaporator could reach 12.6 0C and COP (Coefficient of Performance) cooling device that uses Musicool-22 (MC-22) higher than that of Freon-22 (R-22) is 0.78 or 78%.
