Abstract

Exergy analysis applied to data from an operating reality preheater, calciner, rotary kiln and grate cooler in this study so that we can determine the magnitude of the quantity and quality of work quality (exergy) accurately, determine the amount of each irreversibility a component / subsystem, and be able to know exactly the components / subsystems which are the most inefficient in the clinker production system. In the analysis of clinker production system used is physical exergy and Chemical exergy. Clinker production systems were reviewed at the cement factory is portland cement plant. Based on the results of the calculations have been performed, the magnitude o f which occurs in the preheater irreversibility of 8195.878 kJ/s, calciner at 110,217.049 kJ/s, rotary kiln at 7005 kJ/s, and the grate cooler at 18005.734 kJ/s. From the calculation results can be seen i n component/ subsystems which are experiencing the greatest irreversibility in the calciner components. However, based on the work exxergy efficiency for each component/ subsystem, the most inefficient component is grate cooler that is equal to 25.583%.
