Abstract
The purpose of this study was to see the relationship between the characteristics of disabled beneficiaries, which included: gender, age, disability classification, employment status, education, rehabilitation period, how difficult the distress was felt, and the level of depression. The population used in this study was 47 beneficiaries who were disabled at the Balai Rehabilitasi Sosial Penyandang Disabilitas Fisik in Palembang. Data collection was filling from data base and questionnaires, which consisted of individual characteristics data and PHQ-9 questionnaire (Patient Health Quistionnaire-9) to determine the level of depression of beneficiaries. Data was processed and analyzed with two steps, the first with univariate analysis to see the frequency, then with bivariate to see significance (pvalue) using chi-square test at a significance level of 95%. The results of the analysis of the relationship with α = 0.05 were no significance between sexes (p = 0.608), age (p = 0.673), classification of physically impaired (p = 0.030), education (p = 815), employment status (p = 0.149), rehabilitation period (p = 0.794); but there is a significant relationship with how difficult the distress is felt (p = 0,000).
