Abstract

The effect of technology development which more advanced in cause need a composiie material w as increasingly i n the Industries like aviation, shipping, military, sport s equipment, medical, automolive, and even household appliences. /t caused composiie material has an corrosion resistance properties was hetter, floaty weight, and low cost production. Composiie material is an engineered material which madefrom mixing two or more materials to create a combination of material properties which dijferent from constituent material properties. This research is nature fiber composite with using baggase fiber as a reinforcement and polyester as a matrix. After /hat, treated posi curing to increase the mechanical properties of composite. Post curing process is the process of heating the specimen on the definite temperalure which aim to improve the properties of composites. The purpose of this research is to ana/yze the effect of post curing temperalure on the mechanical properties of composite fiber baggase with matrix polyester. The mechanical properties were analyzed in this research is the value of impact strength and tensi le strength of composite material. The compi/ers of the composite material i s made uniform with a blend of composite volume fraction is 45% fiber baggase and 55% polyester, fiber leng/h 15mm, 5% NaOH treatment with soaking timefor 2 hours. Specimen were made by mixing method for mixing the ingredients blend and hand lay-up method for manufac/uring composite specimen. Specimens made with dimensions according to the Standard ASTM D 256for impact strength and ASlld D 638-02 for tensile strength. Then the specimens were heated in an conventional oven a/ various temperatures 100X2, 120°C, 140X2, I60°C and I80°C for 1 hour. Specimens which have been prepared for the test conducted impact test and tensile tesi. Front the testing that has been done was obtained optimum value impact strength of composi/e fiber baggase with matrix polyester on the heating temperature 140°C with an average value of impact energy (E) is 19,174 Joule and average value of impact energy per unit area i s 0,1485 J/mm2 as w e U as the optimum value of tensi/e strength composi/e fiber baggase with matrix polyester was obtained a t the heating temperature J40°C with average value of stress i s 30,84 N/mm2, average value ofstrain is 10,06% and average value of modulus elasticity is 3,06 N/mm2.
