Abstract

The objectives of this research are: (1) to calculate the income from oil palm farming in Gading Raja Village, Pedamaran Timur District; (2) to determine the average productivity of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) in oil palm farming activities in Gading Raja Village, Pedamaran Timur District; (3) to analyze the contribution of income from oil palm farming to the economic improvement of families in Gading Raja Village, Pedamaran Timur District. The location was selected purposively. The research method employed is a quantitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through surveys and interviews using questionnaires. The sampling was conducted purposively with a total of 50 respondents consisting of independent oil palm farmers in Gading Raja Village, Pedamaran Timur District. The research findings indicate that: (1) the average income of independent farmers from oil palm farming is IDR 39.650.629 per hectare per year, while the average income from other farming activities, specifically rubber farming, is also IDR 13.071.290 per hectare per year, and income from non-farming activities is IDR 9.382.000 per year; (2) the average annual production of FFB is 51.840 kg/year, with a productivity rate of 19.460 kg/ha/year, equivalent to 19 tons/year. This result is optimal according to the productivity theory of 15-20 tons/hectare; (3) income from oil palm farming contributes 63,85% to the total income, indicating that this sector plays a dominant role with a high category in improving the economic conditions of independent farmers' families in Gading Raja Village, with an average FFB production reaching 51.840 kg per year and productivity of 19.460 kg per hectare per year.
