Abstract
Artificial bone tissue has been used for decades and still continues its development for the healing ofbone problems. Noted that the first use of artificial bone tissue by van me e keran in 1892, which is used to treat bone damage with calcium sulfate material. One artificial tissue that is commonly used for healing bone problem bone scaffold is made from magnesium. One of the important characteristics of the fluid Yag affect bone scaffold degradation is shear stress. Cancellous bone has an important role in bone structure, resulting in damage to the cancellous bone damage to the entire network due to bone ternutrisi well. So that the fluid flow characteristics need to be studied further to determine the actual effect on the degradation of bone scaffold. The shear stress is the result of fluid flow passing through the walls of bone scaffold. Some of the characteristics that most affect fluid shear stress that the flow rate and viscosity. This research focuses on the influence of fluid flow rate to the bone scaffold before and after degradation of the characteristics of the fluid flow based on experimental dynamic immersion test using computational fluid dynamic (CFD) and its influence on the degradation and its effects if given displacement using fluid structure interaction (FSI). The results obtained in this study is a strong relationship to the rate of flow shear stress which indicates the rate of degradation is greater as well. Application of displacement did not have a significant influence on the characteristics of the fluid and the rate of degradation as well as one of the properties of bone scaffold that is permability not show a strong correlation to the rate of degradation of the bone scaffold. Keywords: Artificial bone tissue, the rate of degradation, the characteristics of fluid flow. strain, fluid-structure interaction, computational fluid dynamic
