Abstract

Dye Sensitised Solar Cell (DSSC) is a type of third generation solar cell that can utilise natural materials as dye to convert sunlight into electricity. This study aimed to determine the effect of formulation of a mixture of natural dyes from three swamp vegetation on DSSC and maximise the performance of DSSC performance by varying the volume of natural dye to obtain the optimum to obtain the optimum natural dye mixture to produce maximum efficiency. This study used natural dyes from chlorophyll extracts of water hyacinth vegetation (A), anthocyanins fruit of malabar malestone (B) and rubberenoid flowers of primrose willow (C) which were then mixed with the volume formula by using the design expert 13 application.. The research results showed that the mixture of two or three natural dyes can widen the wavelength absorption of sunlight. wavelength absorption of sunlight which can increase the efficiency of the DSSC. efficiency of the DSSC. The best DSSC performance was produced by DSSC with a mixture of three natural dyes (A:B:C)2 with a volume of mixture (0.8 mL; 3.3 mL; 0.8 mL) resulted in Voc: 395 V, Isc: 0.1510 mA, Imax: 0.1069 mA, Vmax: 191 v, Pmax: 20.400 mW, FF: 0.3420 and Efficiency: 0,050%. Optimisation on DSSC single mixture of two and three natural dyes was carried out using the simplex lattice design method resulted in 9 optimum formulations. The selected formulation that has desirability 1 with formula A: 1,827 mL, B: 3,173 mL and C: 0.000 with efficiency of 0.05%.
