Abstract

The incidence of short toddlers or commonly called stunting is a condition of toddlers who have a height that is less when compared to the age of the toddler. Indonesia is currently a country facing the problem of malnutrition compared to underweight, the percentage of toddlers experiencing stunting in 2015 was 29%, in 2016 it was 27.5%, and in 2017 it was 29.6%. Many factors cause shortness in toddlers, namely the characteristics of toddlers, maternal knowledge about short toddlers, parenting patterns. and environmental sanitation. The purpose of this study was to analyze the Relationship Between Environmental Sanitation and Mother's Knowledge of the Incidence of Short Toddlers in Toddlers in Indralaya District. This study is a quantitative study using a cross-sectional design with a proportional random sampling technique with the number of samples in this study being 84 toddlers. Data collection in this study used interviews using a research questionnaire. The results of the bivariate test with the chi square statistical test on the variable of toddler age with the incidence of short toddlers showed a p-value = 0.007, variable 2 maternal knowledge about short toddlers showed a p-value = 0.624, variable 3 parenting patterns showed a p-value = 0.481, and variable 4 environmental sanitation showed a p-value = 0.785. The conclusion in this study is that the variable that is a risk factor for the incidence of shortness in toddlers is the age of the toddler.
