Abstract

This study examines the widespread boycott of pro-Israel products in Indonesia in 2023 as a manifestation of social solidarity with the Palestinian people. Within the framework of Alexander Wendt’s social constructivist theory, the boycott is understood not merely as a spontaneous expression, but as the result of a constructed process involving identity, values, and social norms shaped through collective interaction, media influence, and shared historical narratives. The primary objective of this research is to explore how social identity and solidarity among Indonesians are formed, maintained, and expressed through a large-scale, cross-sectoral boycott movement. This study employs a qualitative institutional reports, and social media content. The analysis is structured around four main dimensions: social identity, social norms, the role of social media, and social reality. Findings reveal that Indonesian struggle. Social norms have positioned the boycott as a collective moral duty. Social media plays a vital role in disseminating information, shaping public opinion, and mobilizing action-evidenced by campaigns such as “All Eyes on Rafah” and the use of the No Thanks app as a tool for ethical consumption. The Social Reality of the boycott is reflected in changes in consumer behavior and economic responses from affected global brands. This study concludes that the boycott represents a concrete form of collective solidarity shaped through social constuction and reflects the moral stance of the Indonesian public on global humanitarian issues.
