Abstract

Research about analysis of lead heavy metals in the blood of hypertensive patients and non hypertensive patients as a control in Palembang city has been done. The purpose of this research is to determine the lead levels in the blood, compare the lead levels in the blood of sample based on the threshold value by OSHA and CDC (< 40μg/dL)., and to know the differences of the lead levels in the blood for gender and age. The subject of this research as many as 30 samples, 9 blood samples of men hypertensive patients, 9 blood samples of women hypertensive patients, 6 blood samples of men non hypertensive patients and 6 blood samples of women non hypertensive patients. Analysis of sample is using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) method and the lead levels were determined by using standard addition. The results showed that the average of the lead levels in the blood of hypertensive patients were significantly is higher than controls (p < 0.05). The lead levels in the blood of hypertensive patients that exceeded the threshold value by OSHA and CDC. In general, the lead levels in the blood of men hypertensive patients is higher than women for 78.35 μg/dL and 66.34 μg/dL. The lead levels in the blood of men and women hypertentsive patients is fluctuated towards the age factor.
