Abstract

driving factors behind such behavior among International Relations students at Sriwijaya University, Palembang Campus, as a result of “TikTok Poison” content. The study employs a descriptive qualitative method with a case study research strategy. Data were collected through observation, interviews with 11 informants, and documentation. The theoretical framework used in this study is Jean Baudrillard’s theory of consumer society. The findings indicate that the forms of consumptive behavior among International Relations students at Sriwijaya University, Palembang Campus, influenced by “TikTok Poison” content, include purchasing viral products and buying similar products from different brands. Furthermore, the driving factors behind students’ consumptive behavior include receiving gifts from stores, attractive product packaging, social prestige, discounts, the desire to boost self-confidence, clear and complete information content, and references from friends or family.
