Abstract

The enviromental problems could be proposed by high concentration of ammonia in the waters. Ammonia nitrogen has been potentially used by microalgae as a source of nutrient. Nannochloropsis sp is one of microalgae that has many benefits and can also absorb the elements of N. This research aimed to determine the influence of ammonia with different concentration on the growth of Nannochloropsis sp. The metods was used Completely Random Design (CRD) with 7 treatments (A-G) and 3 repetitions. Treatment A was a treatment without the administration of ammonium sulfate, treatment B had a concentration of ammonium sulfate 5 mg/l, and the treatment of C-G respectively of 10 mg/l, 20 mg/l, 30 mg/l, 40 mg/l, and 50 mg/l ammonium sulfate with a concentration of 10 mg/l TSP to each treatments. Population density, growth rate and generation time of Nannochloropsis sp were analyzed with Real Honest Difference (RHD) test at the 5% level. The results showed that distribution of ammonia with different concentration affected the population density, growth rate and generation time. The highest population density of Nannochloropsis sp was occured with 4205,00 104 cells/ml on 9th day in G treatments, the highest growth rate was obtained with 0,47 cells/ml/day in G treatment, and the fastest of generation time was obtained of 1.48 hours in the G treatment. Higher concentration increased the population density, growth rate and generation time of Nannochloropsis sp.
