Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul “Pola Komunikasi Pengguna Aplikasi Tinder pada Kalangan Mahasiswa di Kota Palembang”. Latar belakang penelitian berangkat dari fenomena pergeseran pola komunikasi mahasiswa di era digital, khususnya melalui aplikasi kencan online Tinder. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memahami pola komunikasi mahasiswa pengguna Tinder di Palembang. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur, dokumentasi, dan observasi, serta diuji keabsahannya dengan triangulasi sumber. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa menggunakan Tinder dengan motif beragam, mulai dari mencari teman, hiburan, validasi diri, hingga hubungan romantis baik kasual maupun serius. Pola komunikasi yang terbentuk cenderung kasual, singkat, dan tidak berkelanjutan. Penggunaan aplikasi bersifat situasional, seringkali dipengaruhi oleh rasa bosan atau kesepian. Selain itu, ditemukan pula ketidaknyamanan seperti akun palsu, perilaku vulgar, hingga risiko penipuan. Meski demikian, Tinder juga menjadi ruang pembentukan identitas digital dan status sosial mahasiswa melalui personal branding. Kesimpulannya, pola komunikasi mahasiswa di Tinder merefleksikan perubahan budaya komunikasi dari tatap muka menuju interaksi berbasis algoritma digital.
