Abstract
The performance of gamelan arts is a form of cultural diplomacy strategy utilized by Indonesia to strengthen its bilateral relations with Australia. This research aims to analyze how gamelan performances are employed within the context of cultural diplomacy and to identify the actors involved. The research adopts a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through literature review, documentation, and interviews. The findings indicate that gamelan performances, conducted through cultural festivals and local community activities, play a role in fostering cross-cultural understanding, enhancing social cooperation, and expanding people-to-people interaction. The involvement of Indonesian diplomatic representatives, educational institutions, and Australian society demonstrates that gamelan performances make a tangible contribution to sustaining and reinforcing bilateral relations.
