Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus untuk mengungkap representasi kritik nepotisme Jokowi menjelang Pilpres 2024 pada enam edisi sampul Majalah Tempo: 17 Juli 2023, 15 Oktober 2023, 29 Oktober 2023, 14 Januari 2024, 21 Januari 2024, dan 25 Februari 2024. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan metode analisis semiotika Roland Barthes yang mencakup tiga tingkatan makna: denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk praktik nepotisme (Familism) direpresentasikan secara visual melalui relasi kekuasaan antara Jokowi, Gibran, dan Prabowo. Jokowi ditampilkan sebagai aktor sentral yang berperan dalam membentuk peta politik nasional, memperkuat mitos “kingmaker” serta memperlihatkan gejala politik dinasti. Representasi tersebut menyiratkan bahwa campur tangan kekuasaan telah mencederai prinsip demokrasi. Sampul majalah Tempo mencoba mengilustrasikan bahwa tindakan tersebut telah mencederai prinsip-prinsip demokrasi, sehingga sampul majalah ini dihadirkan sebagai bentuk kritik terhadap ideologi dominan yang dianggap telah menyimpang dari demokrasi.
