Abstract
This study aims to examine the effect of watching intensity and online social interaction on the Marriage is Scary trend on TikTok toward marital anxiety among Generation Z in Palembang City. The research subjects were 103 Generation Z respondents who actively use TikTok and had watched Marriage is Scary content, selected through a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method through SmartPLS 4.0 software. The results show that watching intensity has a positive and significant effect on marital anxiety with a coefficient of 0.209 (20.9%), a p-value of 0.044, and a t-test value of 2.010. Furthermore, online social interaction positively and significantly affects marital anxiety with a coefficient of 0.676 (67.6%), a p-value of 0.000, and a t-test value of 6.243. Additionally, both variables simultaneously influence marital anxiety with an R-square value of 0.728 (72.8%), which falls under the strong category. This study confirms that higher exposure and engagement with the Marriage is Scary trend contribute to increased marital anxiety among Generation Z.
