Abstract
The clay soil has low carrying capacity and is very sensitive to water content. It is very harmful when used as the base subgrade material to prop up the construction. To overcome this problem needs a reconstruction or soil stabilization. One way to stabil ization soil is by adding palm bunch ash to the clay. Therefore, in study will find the soil shear strength value by using triaxial test. The stages is the research include study of literature, disturbed soil sampling, data collection in the lab, analyzing the result of the calculation of cohesion value, friction angle and shear strength value with palm bunch ash composition 4%, 5%, 6%, 7%, 8% also 3, 7 and 14 days as the treatment periode. From the result and analyzing the calculation, it can be concluded that this mixed composition from five different percentases has cohesion value change, friction angle and shear strength value, tends to be varied if it’s compared with the condition without mix compositions. Optimum shear strength value on the addition of 7% palm bunche ash with 7 days treatment periode is 6.985 kg/cm2
