Abstract
The effect of soil moisture on the value of the grounding resistance is the greater the value of soil moisture, the smaller the value of the grounding resistance. The higher the humidity of the air in the soil, the higher the concentration of air that will minimize the resistance value of the grounding resistance. Soil moisture can be maintained by adding additives that can absorb gases and liquids If the resistance value is lower, the better the grounding system. This study uses additives in the form of fly ash or fly ash which has chemical compounds and if dissolved in water it will be a good conductor of electricity. Fly ash is also able to absorb water well so it is suitable for use as an electrode wrapping material. This research used 2 electrodes with a length of 1 m each that will be planted wrapped in fly ash. The results of the measurements have different values where the smallest value produced is 124 Ω from the first electrode and the highest value is 188 Ω at the 2nd electrode. Fly ash additives are quite effective in reducing the resistance of the grounding system and the resulting resistance value has a fairly low value when compared to charcoal additives. In terms of economic value, fly ash additives have a fairly cheap price compared to charcoal additives.
