Abstract
Research on development of problem-based Plant Physiology learning program has been done to improve the science generic ability of prospective biology teacher student by using the design of Research and Development. Data were collected through the test of science generic ability, questionnaire responses of students on problem-based learning of Plant Physiology. Research subjects were 74 fourth semester students of Biology Education 2009/2010 academic year at a public university in South Sumatra. The study design using the Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The results show that the application of problem-based learning of Plant Physiology able to increase the science generic ability of prospective teachers biology. The ability of generic science that was developed in theory Plant Physiology is the sense of scale, causality, mathematical modeling, inference logic, symbolic language, and physical modeling. Advantages of problem-based learning Plant Physiology are: 1) foster student engagement during the learning process, 2) can be more motivating students to be more active in learning, 3) can be utilized to develop the science generic ability
