Abstract

The objective of this research was to test the properties of cylindrical particles made of palm kernel shell and adhesive PET plastic waste. The research was conducted at Agricultural Technology Department Workshop, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University and Mechanical Engineering Laboratory of Sriwijaya University on April 2017 until July 2017. This research used experimental design methodology and results presentation using tabulation and graphs, by comparing the compositiaon of Sample. For Sample A was hard kernel shells and 100g adhesive PET plastic waste, Sample B was hard kernel shells and 50g adhesive PET plastic waste, Sample C with Soft Kernel Shells and 100g adhesive PET plastic waste, Sample D was soft kernel shells and 50g adhesive PET plastic waste. The parameters observed in this research were the water content of the cylinder particles, thickness swelling of cylinder particles, the flexural strength of the cylinder and the compressive strength of the cylinder particles. The lowest water content was the composition of Sample C with 8.26%, the lowest thickness swelling value was 0.88% contained in the cylinder C and highest thickness swelling in the cylinder B was 2.55%, the highest modulus of elasticity was in the cylinder A with 3693.33 kgf/cm² and the largest cylinder compressive strength contained in cylinder B with 62.33 kgf/cm²
