Abstract

This research aims to 1). Analyze the factors that cause differences in land ownership status of paddy farmers, 2). Analyze the differences in production and income of paddy farmers based on land ownership status, 3). Describe the socio-economic condition of paddy farmers based on land ownership status. This research was conducted in Tanjung Agas Village, Tanjung Raja District, Ogan Ilir Regency. The location was determined on purpose through survey method. This research was conducted from January to March 2017. The sampling method that will be used in this research is proportionate stratified random sampling with sampling of 50 farmers from 166 total farmers. The data collected in this study consist of primary data and secondary data. Method of data processing are logistic binary regression analysis, T-test using for two independent variable and descriptive analysis. The result of the research indicate that significant factors that causing difference in farmer land ownership status are farmer background and number of family member. The value of significance of each variable respectively is 0.003 and 0.010, which is smaller than α = 0.05. Statistically there is no significant difference of production between farmer that own their land and production of sharecropping farmer with t-value < t-table, which is -0,079 <1,677. Uneven farmers production yields based on landownership and high production ranges cause no significant difference in production. Statistically there is significant income difference between landowner farmer and sharecropping farmer with t value> t table, which is 0,021> 1,677. This shows that the income of landowner farmers is higher than sharecropping farmers. The socio-economic conditions of lowland paddy farmers include the types of side job, educational level, and income of rice farming. Side jobs that rice farmers do are quite diverse, consisting of home industry workers, farm laborers, sewing workers, construction workers and traders. The level of education of both landowner farmers and sharecropper is mostly primary school (SD) graduates. Highest landowner farmer income in paddy farming was Rp 18,889,815 / ha / yr and the highest income for sharecropper is Rp 14,834,500 / ha / yr. The lowest income of landowner farmers is Rp -7.093.750 / ha / yr. and sharecropper is Rp -1.204.000 / ha / yr.
