Abstract
The image of the retinal fundus is one of the medical images obtained through fundus or ophthalmoscopy photography. Retinal fundus images can be used to diagnose several diseases. However, poor quality and low contrast in retinal fundus images can cause misdiagnosis. In this thesis due to the problem of poor retinal image quality and low contrast, the process of improving the quality of the retina and contrast enhancement will be carried out. The first step will be done is the original retinal image will be filtered with morphologyl filter. Then, the filtered image will be increased in contrast to the Limited Contrast Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE). The enhancement image will be filtered again with a number of noise removal methods, namely the mean contraharmonic filter, median filter, max filter, min filter, and wiener filter. The results of this method on the shape changes of the retinal structure become clearer and better. From the best PSNR value with the highest average PSNR value from the results of the assessment of the fiter max with a PSNR value of 42,680 dB and the SSIM value of the wiener filter having the highest average value of the other filters of 0.819.
