Abstract
Swamp buffalo (Bubalus bubalis Linn.) is one of the livestock potential in Tanjung Senai, Ogan Ilir regency, South Sumatra. Maintenance swamp buffalo poor with the bad feed quality can decrease the population of buffalo. One cause of the declining population of buffaloes is due to parasitic infection. Parasitic infection in the digestive tract can cause health problems affecting cattle in decreased activity, weight loss, decreased employment, growth retardation, and can cause death. Based on that matter, the research about the identification of kinds of parasites based on the stages of development contained in the feces may be found in feces swamp buffaloes at Tanjung Senai region indispensable. Observation of the digestive tract parasites can use native methods referred in Nezar (2010). Parasites were observed using a binocular microscope with a magnification of 4x10 and 10x10. The data is shown in the form of a description of the morphology of the parasites by stages of development are found in the feces of swamp buffalo. The results showed that there were no parasite species but found only 2 types of parasite eggs, which is based on the observation of the morphology indicated as Taenia saginata and Fasciola gigantica. Morphology eggs are round, thick-walled and encased by a membrane of the egg and the egg containing the embryo is an indication of T. saginata eggs and morphology egg shaped oval, there operculum in one of the part end, encased by a membrane of the egg and the egg containing the embryo is an indication of F. gigantica eggs. Parasite found in feces samples swamp buffaloes including parasites cosmopolitan with low attendance rates.
